About the Author

Jacqueline K. Boylan

is a certified registered nurse specializing in infusion therapy and a Doctor of Nursing Practice student at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. In 2025, she authored her first children’s book, A Broken Twig Can Sprout, in honor of the unwavering love of her great-grandmother, who raised her and supported her through the loss of both of her parents by the age of eight. It is her hope that this book serves as a message of hope for other children who, like her, have endured multiple Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

In 2025, Jacqueline also founded Help Me Sprout, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children feel nurtured and loved, thereby fostering resilience.

As a result of A Broken Twig Can Sprout, in 2026, Jacqueline founded The Resiliency Publishing House, LLC as her personal publishing imprint, creating a space to write and publish stories that help children identify and navigate the complex emotions that can arise from loss, neglect, abuse, or abandonment. Through these stories, she hopes that both children and adults come to realize that the pain inflicted on them in childhood —often shaped by generational trauma and other factors—was not the result of any wrongdoing on their part. It is her hope that recognizing this will free “the little boy or girl inside” from the guilt and shame associated with these negative experiences.

In addition to her love of writing, Jacqueline deeply treasures the art of photography and videography. As a child, photographs were how she kept the memory of her parents alive in her heart, thus inspiring her lifelong love of capturing life’s most sacred moments. She is also the owner of Through Your Lens Photography and Videography, also dedicated to her great-grandmother, whom she credits with teaching her to see the world “through love’s lens.”

In addition to her creative and professional work, Jacqueline considers her “most important work” to be teaching the Bible, particularly to the Deaf community. She describes American Sign Language as the “language of her heart.” Within the Deaf community, she finds a deep sense of connection with a people who have historically faced many disparities. Jacqueline also finds that the Deaf community often shares a deep understanding of difficult emotions—emotions that not everyone can identify with.

Grounded in faith and compassion, Jacqueline hopes that her work at The Resiliency Publishing House helps little hearts heal, grow, and sprout into the full potential they are capable of. She wants children everywhere to always remember that the bad things that happened to them were not their fault—it never was, and it never will be.

Outside of her professional work, Elettra enjoys spending time in nature, where she finds inspiration, calm, and renewed creativity. She also loves working on puzzles, appreciating the patience and focus they require—qualities that often reflect her thoughtful approach to illustration. Through her art, Elettra aims to create images that feel warm, meaningful, and emotionally resonant, especially for children and families.
